In line with the 21st century smart classroom, Bowen University has
deployed over ₦5 million interactive electronic boards from its
information technology partner, New Horizons Limited.
The e-learning tools are expected to expose students of the university to 21st century learning environment.
The President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention, Dr. Supo Ayokunle
supported by Convention Chairman , Reverend Dr. Kehinde Olumide and the
vice chancellor of the University, Professor Mathews Ojo, while
receiving the boards on behalf of the university at an event , said
that the solutions would position the University for global
competitiveness.
He commended New Horizons Managing Director and Chief Executive
Officer, Mr. Tim Akano and his team for the high-end equipment which are
expected to further ease and improve the process of learning by Bowen
students.
Similarly, he also used the occasion to laud the university’s
existing partnership initiative with New Horizons on integration of
professional international certification-based IT and e-business skills
into the academic curricula of Bowen students. Ayokunle said it would
boost their employability and entrepreneurial chances upon graduation.
He advised the vice chancellor to ensure that Bowen students benefits
maximally from the IT partnership by making it one of the mandatory
courses for all students irrespective of their academic disciplines.
Earlier in his response, Akano charged parents and education
stakeholders in Nigeria to ensure that their wards take advantage of the
opportunity offered by International IT Skills and Certifications to
compete at the local and global level without any form of inferiority
complex.
