Dell's Precision Tower and Rack Workstations have been revised to better
handle virtual reality (VR) content creating and industry-specific
applications. Dell upgraded its workstation line to support virtual reality in the enterprise.
The PC maker rolled out minimum system requirements for use with HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
In
addition, Dell upgraded its Precision Tower and Rack Workstations to be
VR ready. The systems are designed for VR content creators using
applications for engineering, science, energy and entertainment.
More
specifically, Dell said that its VR systems have graphics drivers that
are verified to work, pass performance tests based on head-mounted
displays and benchmarks and have minimal processor, memory requirements.
As for the hardware, Dell upgraded its Precision Tower 5810,
7810, and 7910 Workstations and Rack 7910 with Intel's Broadwell
processors, AMD and Nvidia graphics chips and high-speed PCIe drives as
well as up to 1TB DDR4 memory.
