Top Apple Designer to Head GoPro

In an odd industry move, GoPro has snagged an Apple designer close to Jonny Ive. A designer with Apple's most secretive design team has made an odd industry move. The Information reports Danny Coster, who has worked at Apple since the early 1990s on notable projects like the iPhone and iPad, has joined GoPro to lead a new design group.

Coster will report directly to GoPro CEO Nick Woodman, who has been fighting a falling stock price since mid-2015 as investors worry about the company's strategy.
GoPro is best known for its action sports cameras, but promises to soon get into virtual reality recording and drones. GoPro hasn't confirmed what projects Coster's design team will work on, however because he is directly reporting to Woodman, they may be high profile.

Woodman confirmed Coster's hiring in a company-wide email sent on Wednesday, saying Coster's official title will be vice president of design and he will begin at the end of April. Coster confirmed his move in a short interview with a New Zealand-based publication.
At Apple, Coster was credited in patents for the iPhone 4 and the iPad's wireless keyboard, Fortune points out.
News of Coster's hire boosted GoPro's stock price 18 percent in mid-afternoon trading on Wednesday.
